The Junior Club will be moving to Friends School Lisburn on Thursday nights for indoor training. We start in Friends on Thursday 8th November and we will stay indoor training untill April. Northern Bank Junior Competition
Northern Bank Junior CompetitionMary Peters track was lively yesterday afternoon (Sun 29th June) with over 50 young athletes from Banbridge and City of Lisburn AC competing in a friendly junior competition. For many of the young athletes it was their first time taking part in an athletics competition. Hopefully in an Olympic year their experience will encourage them to strive to achieve their best in their chosen sport.

The first round at Antrim suffered from being the day after the Ulster schools,but having said that those who did compete spread themselves accross the events and in the premier league the COL Ladies finished third behind Abbey and Tirchonaill.

Congratulations to Katie Conn and Ciara Mageean on their selection for the London Mini Marathon on Sunday 13th April.

Ulster Schools Mallusk 20/2/08
A cold but dry day greeted the competitors today at Mallusk. The pick of the performances was Ciara Mageean winning the Intermediate girls ahead of Eimear Black.

Weekend news
Congratulations to Caira Mageean (15) who finished 6th running for Ireland U20's in Holland. Also Francessca Brown (U13g) finishing 12th in Gateshead with Chris Madden in 35th (U20M). Locally, Aiofe Kelly-McCann had her first victory at Ballyclare cross-country on Saturday. Gerard Gargan enjoyed his first grass event and came in 6th.Heather McLarnon finished 6th in the senior Ladies. Finally, Rachel Gibson returned another good result in the Ulster Age Gps 5th in wet conditions.

IRISH SCHOOLS RESULTS
It was a very successful outing for the CoLAC athletes representing their schools at the Kit Kat All Ireland Schools’ Track and Field 2007 Championships at Tullamore on Saturday.

Ulster Schools Finals
Great results at the weekend from COLAC athletes representing their schools netted a total of 24 medals, 12 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze. Full results can be found on our results link.

Irish Schools XC Championships
City of Lisburn athletes collect two silver individual medals and team bronze at the weekend in muddy underfoot conditions. Ciara Mageean wins Silver in the inter girls and Ruth Gillispie also Silver in the senior girls while Ruth picks up additional Bronze medal as part of the Carrick Grammar senior girls team with Jenny Moore, Hannah Addley and Allison Robinson. Also, Rachel Pearson of Friends School, who has just recovered from injury, preformed beyond expectations to finish eleventh in the same race. More

Ulster Schools XC Championship
As usual a large number of City of Lisburn athletes competed in the Ulster Schools finals at Mullusk representing there various schools. Nine gold, three silver and three bronze medals was the total at the end of the day. Ruth Gillispie won two gold medals by winning the Senior girls and leading Carrick Grammar to a resounding victory 26 points ahead BRA. Hannah Addley picked up the Bronze medal finishing third closely followed by Rachel Pearson of Friends in fourth. Jenny Moore was 16th followed closely by schoolmate Allison Robinson 16th. Hannah Mills of Strathern finished in 29th.

NI & ULSTER Senior Ladies Champs
NI & ULSTER Senior Ladies ChampsCity of Lisburn AC dominated the Northern Ireland and Ulster Cross Country Championships at the University of Ulster, Coleraine last Saturday winning the Ladies team title for the first time since 1998.

Ballyclare Malcolm Cup
In freezing, windy conditions, Kelly Reid of City of Lisburn AC won the senior lady’s event, run in conjunction with the Vet’s Horwill Cup, at Ballyclare Six Mile Water Park cross-country three mile event on Saturday. The muddy under foot conditions did not deter Kelly from dominating the race from start to finish, beating Teresa McGloin of Finn Valley. Christine Long, Kelly’s training partner who prefers track to cross-country, also produced a solid performance finishing in eighth place over the three mile course.

Emily Mills strikes gold again winning the under 13 girls 1500m race in cold wet windy conditions.

Ballyclare Age Gps and Seniors
City of Lisburn athletes excelled in the firm underfoot conditions at Ballyclare Cross-country events on Saturday with Emily Mills in the Girls Under 14 event setting the standard. Emily demonstrated sheer determination by taking the lead early in this hotly contested race over 1200m and had to sprint in to win, fending off three challenging contenders. Emily’s team mates Aoife Kelly-McCann in her first cross-country race and Caite Wright also demonstrated great determination and skill finishing in 36th and 55th respectively. The Girls Under 16 2000m event, Rachel Gibson was City of Lisburn’s sole representative in this category, Rachel’s run was a little under par and she commented later that she felt a bit flat, however by finishing sixth, she still qualified for the All Ireland Finals in Dundalk.

Schools Inter Pro's 24th june
Fourteen Athletes from City of Lisburn AC travelled down to Tullamore to represent Ulster in the Inter Pro Under 17’s.

At the recent Irish Age Groups Championships in Tullamore, there were many successes for the eighteen City of Lisburn Athletic Club athletes competing there.

Ulster Schools Report 10-11 June
City of Lisburn athletes won an amazing 35 medals last week-end at the Ulster Schools Athletic Championships at Antrim!

Ulster Schools Champs at Antrim
City of Lisburn athletes won an amazing 35 medals last week-end at the Ulster Schools Athletic Championships at Antrim! Wallace High pupil Rachel Gibson added to her growing tally of medals, with Gold in the Intermediate girls 800m, and followed that with a Silver in the 1500m. Training partners Jenny Moore Bronze in the 800m and Caroline Brown taking Bronze in the 3000m followed by Katie McHenry fifth and Rachel Ramsey in sixth. Caroline also finished fourth in the 800m. Ruth Gillespie defending last years title, once again won the Senior Girls 3000m in 10.41s, with Friends School pupil Rachel Pearson taking the Bronze, Ruth also acheived 2nd in the 1500m with a personal best time of 4m49.5s. Well done to Friends schoolgirl Chloe Bloomer winning the minor 100m in 13.20s.

OMAGH HALF MARATHON
Successful first outing for Kyla Heanen and Heather Martin in Omagh Half Marathon. With over 550 starters on this cruelling hilly course with strong winds the Lisburn duo fought long and hard to finish well up in preparation for the big ONE on May day. Heather was 4th in her category in a time of 1hr 34 mins followed by Kyla in 11th in 1hr 44mins. This was a great achievement for Kyla and Heather who have worked and long through the long winter nights in preparing for the Belfast Marathon on May Day.

St Patrick's 10K at Downpatrick
Chris wins his first 10k at Downpatrick on Sunday 19th March. Chris set out with the leading pack which soon moved away from the 250 strong field. The race was won by Joe McAllister of St Malachy's, Chris finnished 9th overall in a time of 33:07 and was the first under 18 home winning a super trophy.

Irish Schools CC Championships
Some results fed through from Caroline Brown in Dublin on Saturday 4th March. Emily Mills finished in 27th place in the U13 age group. In the U15 Caroline finished 17th with Rachel Gibson in 19th. Boys u17 Stuart Brown finished 19th also. More results to come.

Civil Service CC races Stormont
It was a one, two, for City of Lisburn AC girls at the Civil Service Cross-country Races at Parliament grounds Stormont. Rachel Gibson indicated a return to form with a resounding victory, leading the field from start to finish over the 3000m course closely followed by training partner Caroline Brown. Jenny Moore who, at the Ulster Schools dropped out due to a respiratory problem, started steadily and progressed through the field to finish ninth, indicating her fitness levels are improving.

Ulster Schools Cross Country 2006
On a cold, windy, freezing afternoon at Mallusk playing fields, City of Lisburn AC athletes, representing their various schools, were competing for places in the All Ireland Championships in Dublin City University on the 4th March.

City of Lisburn AC results from the School Districts Cross Country races in Ormeau Park, Belfast and Delamont Park, Downpatrick.

Rebok International CC Races
The Stormont International festival of running starts off with the Primary schools race for P6’s and P7’s, Tori Miskelly was completing for City of Lisburn A C and produced a great effort to finish in sixth place.

Malcolm Cup Ballyclare
After a week of heavy rain, the underfoot conditions were never going to be easy at Six Mile Water Park in Ballyclare nevertheless, City of Lisburn’s athletes figured prominently, with six out of eight athletes amongst the prize winners. The bottom half of the course runs along side Six Mile Water which had recently overflowed onto the flood plane leaving a lot surface water on the course, adding to the heavy muddy conditions.

Joe Seely 10k
Congratulation Kelly Reid on winning this years prestige 10k event at Ormeau Park on Saturday 26th November. Kelly ran a strong race and lead from start to finish to win in a time of 36mins 41secs.

Congratulations Ruth & Chris
Congratulations Ruth & ChrisCongratulations to Ruth Gillispie and Chris Madden in their selection for the Reebok International Cross Country Championships. Both are competing in the under 17 category and have a great chance of doing well in this saturday's race. The picture attached includes Rachel Gibson who also was a medal winner at the Ballyclare qualifying event.

Emily Mills first win
Emily Mills was first home at Coleraine's cross-country meet on saturday in the under 13's girls race. This was Emily's first victory on grass. Rachel Gibson and Caroline Brown finished 1st and 2nd in the girls u15 race, Caroline was leading most of the way but took a wrong turn and lost her advantage. Stuart Brown ran a good race to finish 3rd in the boys u15 race. Well done to all.

Comber Cup Saturday 22nd
Well done to Stuart Brown in notching up a victory in the U16 category. Also a big mention should go to Heather Martin for completing her first outing on the country for over 5 years, heather finished a creditable 7th.

Irish Uneven age groups Scotstown
Well done to Rachel Gibson on winning the U15 category on Sundays cross-country event in Scotstown County Monaghan, Caroline Brown finished in 9th place and also qualifies for the Irish Final in Sligo. Emily Mills ran a great race up an age group finishing in 17th place

Wallace Park Relays
Well done to the Girls under 16's on winning an exciting race with East Down AC. Caroline Brown finished second 16 secs down on Emma McShane to hand over to Allison Robinson who narrowed the gap to 6 secs for Rachel Gibson on the last leg. Rachel ran the fastest leg of the day 3mins 27secs bringing the home team in first place.
