Amy the Golden Girl in Nenagh

The Irish Universities indoor track and field championships were staged in the Nenagh indoor stadium yesterday and produced some high class athletics throughout the day.

The 60m sprint finals brought together some of the leading sprinters on the island with plenty of fast times. City of Lisburn’s Amy Foster, running for the University of Ulster, was making her second visit to the venue in recent weeks, having earlier competed at the Woodie’s DIY Indoor Games. Once again she put in a polished performance to win comfortably. Her winning time of 7.44 equalled her previous best time. Claire Bergin (IC4) chased her home in a time of 7.57, with Stephanie Creanor (DCU) third in 7.60.

Well done to Amy, who is showing excellent form ahead of the Irish Senior Indoor championships in the Odyssey next weekend.
