A number of young City of Lisburn athletes were recently invited to take part in a TV show for Children’s  BBC. This involved almost a week on location in Scotland partcipating in a series of sporting challenges with a view to picking a four-strong team to tackle competitors from the other home nations.

The great news is that the final squad to represent Northern Ireland on the show – called “Ultimate Sports Day” –  includes three Lisburn athletes! The two boys are hurdles and high jump star Andrew Hutchinson plus all-rounder Thomas Quinn while high jumper and pentathlete Phoebe Tan is one of the two girls on the team.

The athletes head back to Scotland on Friday to finish filming the series – details of broadcast times to follow when known. Good luck to Andrew, Thomas and Phoebe!
