6th & 7th Feb 2016

Another great weekend for the juniors in Magherafelt this weekend which saw 9 individual NI and Ulster titles won and 27 medals collected in total.
Our youngest competitor got us off to the best of starts when AdamK won the U13 60m sprint retaining his title from last year.
The trend continued with newbie KatieM taking the U14 girls title in an amazing 8.09s, the 3rd fastest female of the day from any age group. Not bad for a 12 year old.
Abby also reached that final and although Hannah missed out on the sprint final she went on to win the 800m in a pb time of 2.32.35. Ella took silver in the U14 hurdles before joining Abby in the LJ where they finished 6th and 5th respectively.
The U14 boys were ably represented by Peter who finished 4th in the 800m and Daniel who made the top 8 in the SP.
Holly and Victoria raced the U15 60 with Victoria reaching the final. They were together again in the LJ where they were joined by another new member ErinM who took 4th in the LJ with her 4.58m leap ahead of her team mates.
Holly stormed to victory in the U15 hurdles in a pb time of 9.66s.
Two more new members were in action for the U15 boys. Jordan had a very busy time reaching the 60m final before taking the silver in the SP and 5th in LJ and MatthewWs took bronze in the 800m in 2.15.50.
The U16 girls was our most successful age group with every one of them taking home at least one medal. AnnaM, Grace and Amie all reached the 60m final placing 1st, 3rd and 5th respectively with Anna’s time of 7.90s the fastest of the day by any girl . Amie took a medal of her own when she won the SP before Anna and Grace combined again for 1st and 2nd in the 200m.
Anna was joined in the LJ by the youngest of the group, ErinF, with Anna taking silver with her 4.99m jump ahead of Erin who leaped a pb 4.82m for 4th. Having just missed a LJ medal by 5cms Erin then just missed the hurdles gold by an even narrower margin with only 0.01s separating her from the title. Thicker vest required next time!
Anna, Amie, Grace and Holly combined to take the 4x200m relay by a convincing margin.
James showed it was not just the girls who could win medals when he took the 200m bronze with his pb time of 24.78s.
AnnaS got the U17s off to a great start with her win in the HJ. Yet another new member, MatthewWn ran the fastest time in the 60m heats but was unfortunate to fall foul of the False Start rules in the final for which Ryan NS had also qualified. Matthew went on to take 4th in the LJ behind Ryan who finished 2nd and then went on to take 3rd in the HJ.
Alix and Therese tackled the U18 hurdles finishing 3th and 4th respectively while Rebekah and SarahF combined for 2nd and 3rd in the 800m.
Our only U18 man was Josh who took silver in the TJ with a pb of 12.97m
RyanK took silver in the U19 400m, for which another newcomer Michael also qualified and SarahW brought home a gold and 2 bronzes from the U19 SP, LJ and TJ.
9 Champions and 27 qualifications for the Irish Indoors was and excellent return for the relatively small number of CoLAC athletes in action.
Well done all.
