Callum Shaw had a good run at the Waterworks 5k Parkrun yesterday, going under 20 minutes and just missing the City of Lisburn Parkrun club record belonging to Declan Morgan. Declan ran the course in 19:49 in November, and Callum’s PB here was just one second slower in 19:50, leaving him in 13th place overall and 2nd in the M15-19 age category. Peter Shaw was 26th overall in 21:33 and 2nd M45-49.
In the ladies’ event the consistent Orla Smyth equalled her second-best time with 22:54 for 6th place, just 10 seconds outside her best. 109 athletes completed the run this week. The conditions were frosty and slippy again with one unfortunate runner actually falling in to the lower lake after taking the first bend a bit too tightly!
