PB for Orla at Parkrun 1/1/11

Orla Smyth and Declan Morgan showed they had recovered from their exploits in Castlewellan a few days earlier with an appearance at the New Year’s Day Parkrun 5k. Team tactics were the order of the day as Declan helped pull Orla to a new Parkrun PB by 10 seconds with a time of 22:44. That performance placed her 2nd lady overall and 1st F30-34. This was her highest overall finishing position to date in the series and shows she still has good pace in her legs despite starting to increase her mileage in the build-up towards the Belfast Marathon.
Declan has gone below 20 minutes in the series but his pacing duties this time saw him finish just ahead of Orla in 22:43. This left him 14th male overall and 2nd M30-34. 49 athletes completed the run this week.
