Irish Senior Indoor round-up

Congratulations to Amy Foster who twice lowered her PB en route to the Irish Senior Indoor 60m title at the Odyssey last weekend. Her time of 7.37s in the final was, along with Dervla O’Rourke in the hurdles, one of the outstanding female performances at the championships. She is now within touching distance of Anna Boyle’s 7.33s NI record.

Still on the track Erin McIveen had a super run for 4th place in the 800m, running 2:10.75 in her heat and improving to 2:10.19 in the final. Heather McLarnon gave a good account of herself in the 1500m, placing 11th in 5:06.77.

In the field Linzi Herron jumped a very solid 5.26m in the final round to leave her just outside the medals in 4th with Karyn Dumigan 11th with 4.90. In the shot Libby Rose stepped up the Seniors with an 8.64m effort leaving her 12th.

Adam Hill’s 4th place in the high jump was the best placing by a City of Lisburn male athlete at the senior championships, with him clearing 1.80m for the second time this indoor season. He was also 9th in the triple jump with 11.99 ahead of brother Jonathan in 10th.

Brendan Murphy had a good run in the 400m heats, recording 51.26s, although this was not quite enough to progressed to the final.

Well done then to Amy who had another very impressive outing, showing she is excellent form in this important Olympic year.
