Lisburn athletes for Olympic Stadium

Thu 23 February 2012--admin

The Olympic Games this summer will hopefully see a couple of senior City of Lisburn athletes in action in London. However the honour of being the first local athletes to compete in the fantastic new Olympic Stadium has fallen to those named today in the Northern Ireland U17 team for the UK School Games in May. The squad includes five City of Lisburn AC athletes, with a couple more named amongst the reserves.

For the girls, Erin Quinn and Roseanna McGuckian are named in the sprints and relay, with Aoibhhin McManus going in the long jump while Jane Anderson has been selected in the sprint hurdles. Andrew Hutchison has been selected at high jump after winning a jump-off in a massive new PB of 1.87m. Congratulations to all the athletes on their selection for what should be an unforgettable experience.

Anna McIlmoyle (hurdles / high jump) and Michael Logan (discus) are amongst a small additional squad who have been named as Reserves and will be on stand-by for the trip.
