HJ silver for Megan in Birmingham

Fri 9 March 2012--admin

Megan Marrs recently travelled over to Birmingham for the England Athletics indoor age-group championships. This is the highest quality indoor meet in the British Isles for U15 athletes featuring the cream of young athletes from the UK and Ireland.

Although running a temperature and feeling generally unwell throughout the competitions Megan confirmed that she is more than able to compete at this level.

At high jump she was 2nd with 1.59m, just 1cm below her PB. In the hurdles she cruised through the heats (2nd in 9.47s), semi (2nd in 9.37s), before finishing 7th in the final in 9.63s. Nobody in the club doubts that she would have challenged for another medal in the final if feeling fully fit.

Megan is now ranked in the top 5 in the UK in her age-group in high jump and top 10 in the hurdles, and is clearly one of the most exciting prospects in the strong junior section of the club just now.

Well done to Megan on her excellent silver in Birmingham.
