The Titanic Quarter 10k gets bigger and better each year and there was a record field of almost 2000 entrants and well over 1600 finishers at today’s event, with a handful of City of Lisburn athletes featuring in the main event and also the junior one mile race. Conditions were good – bright, dry and not too warm with a slight breeze.

In the 10k Declan Morgan was just under 40 mins by his own watch but the official chip time had him at 40:05 – very close to his PB from the Seeley Cup last November. He ran 19:41 for the 1st 5k and 20:28 in the second half to place 101st overall.

Next home of the Lisburn squad was Grainne Keenan who had another fantastic run. She is in the shape of her life just now and reduced her PB by nearly two minutes with a 46:08 chip time (46:19 gun). Her splits were 22:48 / 23:31. Orla Smyth completed a trio of good runs by our senior athletes with a run of 49:07 (49:36 gun) with splits of 24:22 / 25:14.

However, the club performance of the day undoubtedly belonged to Tom Baird who won the junior one mile race in a time of 5:21. This was a notable win for Tom who led home a field of 115 runners in this Under 15 race.

Congratulations to Tom and the three senior athletes on their great runs.
