City of Lisburn athletes bagged a total of five NI and Ulster senior titles at the 2012 championships at Antrim yesterday, an improvement on the three won in 2011.

On the track Kelly Neely had a good win in the 800m in a useful 2:07.08 with Erin McIlveen running well for bronze in 2:14.19. Karyn Dumigan was 5th in the 400m in 65.18. Linzi Herron overcame a very strong field in the long jump thanks to her 2nd best ever jump and a legal PB of 5.71m. Meanwhile Anna McIlmoyle became NI senior high jump champion thanks to a 1.60m clearance.

In the throws there were senior bronzes for Kathryn Wallace in both shot and hammer (7.54m / 34.90m) which also earned her a pair of U19 golds. Caris Greenwood was 3rd in a good quality discus competition in 34.37m which gave her the NI U19 title with Amsnda Mitchell earning U19 silver after her 25.34m effort.

Adam Hill is NI senior (and U19) high jump champion after a great 1.90m PB. Adam’s improvement this year has been remarkable as he jumped only 1.65m in this event last year. Andrew Hutchinson was 5th in 1.75m.

Adam’s good day continued with a 12.57m PB to win the U19 triple jump (and senior silver) while a 5.96m long jump placed him 3rd U19. His brother Jonathan won U18 gold thanks to a 5.50m leap. Jonathan was also 1st in the U18 triple jump thanks to a 12.32m PB.

2010 discus champion Chris Reynolds was happy to win gold again after coming second last year, with a throw of 41.66m doing the business for him this year while while Tom Jess won the U19 title in 39.82m.

On the track Adam won the U19 110m hurdles with a run of 16.28s. Brendan Murphy ran well for 2nd in the senior 400m hurdles in 54.65s and also placed 4th at 200m in 22.81s. Patrick Crossan didn’t progresss from the heats in the 200m but his 25.40s is a top-class time for an M45 master. Aaron Dalzell was 3rd fastest U18 in the 100m with an 11.81 run in his heat.

Congratulations to all those athletes who represented the club so well and especially to those who won senior titles.
