Kate Gourley is the club parkrun star this week after a winning debut at the Queens event yesterday morning. Unable to compete in the age-group championships at Antrim because she was too young, Kate headed up to the Dub for the chance to stretch her legs and lungs. Not only did the 11 year old athlete run the superb time of 21:41 but she also finished as first female overall from the 52-strong field. Kate therefore definitely becomes the youngest female athlete to place first in a N. Ireland parkrun event.

Behind Kate, Lisburn parkrun debutantes Amanda McMaster and Marie Murphy finished as 11th and 12th ladies respectively in just over 28 mins.

Over at Victoria Park Dave Lonnen had a good run to finish 5th overall from almost 150 runners in an outright club parkrun record of 17:51, beating his previous best by 6 seconds.
