Great runs by Judith, Mel and Diane at Lisburn

Judith Lowry was the star turn of the City of Lisburn athletes racing on Wednesday evening at the Lisburn 10k and Half Marathon. Her excellent 38:08 run saw her place 2nd lady from the huge field of almost 1700 finishers in the 10k. Dave Lonnen was first home of the Lisburn men in 36:27 which placed him a very respectable 15th overall and 4th M45.

Melanie Minshull was an excellent 4th in the F40 category after her good run of 46:54 (46:30 chip), almost 3 mins quicker than her previous best here. There had been a fair bit of banter in the Neill household over whether Graeme or Paula would be quickest in the 10k. In the end honours were shared as they crossed the line together in 47:16.

In the half marathon Diane Watson recorded her best time on this course with 1:38.49 which was 5 minutes faster than last year here and just over a minute slower than her recent PB in Newry. This also placed her very well up the F35 category. Andrew Watson also completed the half marathon despite an old knee injury returning at only 4 miles.

Well done to all the Lisburn athletes on their good runs.
