Uneven age Championships at Killybegs

Seven runners plus Heather weighed in for the Ulster Uneven Champs on Sunday in a sun drenched Killybegs. Conditions were good on the sandy surface and the runners were there in plenty of time to prepare.
First of the Lisburn runners was Kate Gourley who set the standard for the rest of the team finishing a superb 4th from a field of 67 runners. Next was the U15 races with Madison Bowyer, Tom Baird and James Edgar. Madison ran strongly finishing 5th from 55 runners and, as with Kate, comfortably secured qualification for the Irish Champs. The boys U15 race was an outstanding event with Tom leading the race for all but the last few metres. He finished in a creditable 2nd place with James powering home in 7th. Next up were Zoe Carruthers and Rebecca Harvey in the U17 event. This was a small but extremely strong field of 28 runners. Zoe finished an excellent 2nd with Rebecca coming in just outside the qualification places. Jonny was due to run in the U17 boys race but injured a calf in warm up and had to withdraw. As ever these City of Lisburn athletes were a credit to the club supporting their club mates and other athletes in all races. Huge thanks to Heather for making the trip to support the team.
