2013 U16/U17 Age Gp Champs + MD events

Great results again from City of Lisburn athletes at Mary Peter’s Track on Saturday.

Listing only our athletes that have appeared in the top 3 as I am limited to time and space, full results can be found in Athleticsni web site.

Starting with track, the closely fought battles between U17G Megan Marrs and Roseanna McGuckian over 100m continues with Megan wining the 100m in12.25s and Roseanna a close second in 12.31s. In the U17B another close battle commenced with Ikenna Nzewi wining in 11.36s with team mate Gareth Thompson in second, timing 11.50s. Ben Fisher in the U16B ran a great race to finish second in 12.03s.

In the 200m the club achieved 3 gold’s, with Mollie Newell U16G first in 27.25s and Ciaran Barnes U16B in24.41s and the third gold was from Roseanna McGuckian in 24.67s. Gareth Thompson bagged his second silver, in the U17B in a time of 23.77s.

Success in the Hurdles with Mollie Newell’s second Gold in the U16G 80mH timing 27.25s. Similarly for Ciaran Barnes a second Gold in the U16B 250mH timed at 33.80s, and not to be outdone Megan Marrs second Gold came in the U17G 100mH. Finally in the U16B 100mH a closely fought battle between Matthew Dalton and Ben Fisher resulted in a win for Matthew in 14:43s followed closely by Ben’s second silver in 14:53s.

Success followed in the middle distance events with James Edgar just beating Tom Baird by two seconds for silver and bronze in U16 3000m. James timed at 9m43.5s followed by Tom in 9m45.05s. The U17B 1500m Jonny Whan battled his way to the finish from 400m out for a well deserved PB win in 4m20.05s with just 2 seconds separating the leading four. Zoe carruthers in the U17G 1500m won comfortably by eight seconds and Rebecca Douglas U15G also wining although with a greater margin 27s. Madison Boyer U16G and Kate Gourley U14G both won Bronze with Madison in 5m06.68s and Kate finished in 5m09.21s.

In the Field, City of Lisburn’s athletes once again demonstrated their depth of strength by landing a host of medals. Josh Jordan U17B threw the Hammer 45m02cm securing silver. Lauren Rea U16G finished third in the Discus with a throw of 20m74cm; Andrew Barkley U17B had a mighty throw to win Gold with 41m17cm. In the Shot, Andrew once again threw to secure a second gold with a throw of 13m47cm. Matt Dalton U16B secured a second gold also at 13m14cm. Sarah Woods U16G and Caitlan Rose U17G both attained silver with throws of 9m34cm and 8m80cm respectively. The javelin saw Sarah Woods grab gold throwing 25m60cm and Ronan Jenkinson U17B also wining gold with 44m97cm. Sarah Woods also won silver in the Pole Vault leaping 1m70cm. In the U17G High Jump Cara Burke cleared 1m53cm to secure gold while team mate Caitlan Rose gained silver jumping 1m40cm. Matt Dalton won a further gold jumping 1m70cm. Ben Fisher jumped 40cm clear of his next opponent 5m83cm and won the gold. Finally, in the Triple Jump Cara secured her second gold jumping 9m34cm
