MPT 9th August 2014.

Glorious sunshine bathed MPT for the 3rd round of the YDL competition to decide the finalists.
CoLAC were already well placed having won both of the earlier rounds but we were determined not to rest on our laurels.
U13
Our U13 boys got things underway with JackT and BenG combining for 4th and 2nd in the A and B streams of the 100m with both boys running PBs. JoshP and AdamB then took maximum points with wins in both the A and B streams of the 800m. Adam was in action again in the high jump where he and Peter each placed 2nd in their respective streams.
We had a double 3rd in the long jump from JackT and Lewis with Lewis then winning the B discus behind JoshP’s 4th place in the A stream. Only 8cms separated BenG (4th in A with 14.29m) from JackT (2nd in B with 14.21m) in the javelin.
Jack, Adam, Lewis and Ben combined for 2nd in the relay.

The U13 girls also had a good day. Sprinters HollyM and Catherine both came 4th in their respective streams in the 150m. Catherine was pressed into action again in the 800m were she backed up AnnaH’s run of 2.40.74, a 9s PB, which saw her place second.
ErinF had an excellent day taking first place in the High Jump with a PB clearance of 1.35m with CaraT taking 2nd in the B stream. Erin followed this up also winning the long jump A stream with HollyM taking 1st the B stream for maximum points for CoLAC in that event. HollieG and Catherine both placed 2nd in their respective streams in the Discus before our 2 Holly/Hollies then combined in the javelin with HollieG taking 4th in the A stream and HollyM 2nd in the B.
The relay team of Erin, Catherine, Cara and Holly ran well to come a very close 2nd in the relay.

U15
The U15 boys produced plenty of PB performances and plenty of points too. JoshA and Chris both ran PBs to place 5th and 1st in their respective streams in the 200m with Chris’s 26.47s the 2nd fastest of the day. Simon and Ethan ran well for 2nd and 3rd in their 300m streams before Ethan cleared a new PB of 1.63m to win the A high jump with TomO taking 1st in the B stream with 1.55m. Tom was in action again in the Shot placing 2nd in the B with Simon taking 3rd in the A stream before Simon changed implements to win the A discus ahead of JoshA who took 2nd in the B stream.
CallumM (2.12.65) and SeanT (2.13.75) both ran huge PBs for another double first for CoLAC in the 800m.
The relay team of Simon, Tom, Ethan and JoshA ran well for another CoLAC win.

There was a reduced program for the U15 girls but our team did us proud with Aimee running a PB of 27.98s for 2nd in the B 200m, Grace taking 6th in the A stream. Aimee also tackled the shot, placing 5th in the A with Eve 2nd in the B stream.
In the 800m OliviaN took over 3s off her PB to place 2nd in the A stream (2.23.71) with KateG running a PB of her own (2.27.96) to win the B stream. Only 1cm separated Eve(4.48m) from Emilia (4.47M PB) in the long jump with the girls placing 2nd and 1st in their respective streams.
The relay team of Grace, Emilia, Eve and Aimee won their race.

Our U17s boys excelled themselves with 8 individual wins. Ciaran and RyanK took double 1st in the 400m with Ryan also winning the B 200m in a PB 25.03s ahead of ConnorG who was 5th in the A stream. Jake and ConnorI took another double top in the 800m with Connor’s 2.15.13 in the B event a new PB for him. Dan ran well for 4th in the 3000m.
BenF and Ciaran tackled the high jump, not an event for which either is renowned, and took another impressive double first place with Ben’s PB clearance of 1.70m winning the event.
Ciaran then took another B 1st in the shot behind team mate Cameron who placed 2nd in the A stream before taking 3rd in the less familiar javelin.
Ciaran, ConnorG, TomM and BenF then combined for a very convincing relay win.

The U17 girls started the day with AnnaA and CaraB clocking times within 4 hundreths of a second of each other for 3rd places in their 200m races. Amazingly SophieH and Jess only had 0.08s between their 300m times with Sophie taking 3rd in the A and Jess 1st in the B.
SarahF and SarahH took full points for CoLAC in the 800m with our 3rd Sarah (W) coming 2nd in the B long jump behind Jess who won the A event. SarahW then placed 2nd in the A javelin and Alix 2nd in the A Discus with LaurenR winning the B stream in both long throws.

On the day we won this round with 795 points, a massive 190 points ahead of our nearest rivals, to confirm our place in the finals as highest qualifier.

Well done everyone. Through all three rounds you have produced great performances and PBs as well as giving your best in unfamiliar events. All at CoLAC are very proud of you!
