City of Lisburn athletes were well represented in the Ulster Schools Cross-country Championships at Mallusk Playing fields on Wednesday with two outstanding winners, Ciara Mageean in the senior girls and Katie Conn in the junior girls races.
The junior girls race saw Katie, Friends School Lisburn lead a strong field runners home from Francesca Brown of Strathern Grammar and Rebecca Harvey in 9th of Victoria College. Next Lisburn runner in was Erin Cruthers of Fiends followed by Cydnie McCullough of Bloomfield Collegiate in 52nd.
Ciara Mageean of Assumption Grammar Ballinahinch continued her success with a runaway win in the senior ladies leading her school to a fine victory. Rachel Gibson of Wallace High finished an improved 5th in her recent form and Emily Mills of Strathern Grammar finished a disappointing 22nd after suffering a stitch early on. Emily was also running up an age group so hopefully she will progress further in next years competition.
