Castlewellan Xmas cracker 28 Dec

A number of Lisburn athletes have been active over the Christmas period, with Orla Smyth and Declan Morgan tackling the gruelling Castlewellan Christmas Cracker to work off some of the turkey. Promoted by Newcastle AC, this race is run in pairs over mixed terrain including road, trail and cross-country with a distance of roughly 10 miles (16k).

Over 140 pairs toed the line for this challenging event, with Orla and Declan coming 21st in the Under 70 (combined age) category. However, only one mixed pair were ahead of them in this age-group, so great running by the Lisburn duo!

Elsewhere, Lisburn athletes were spotted at Belmont, Belfast at the CIYMS 5 mile run on Boxing Day (actually 27 Dec this year) and even the Christmas morning Parkrun!
