Ciara Mageean is going to need a new mantlepiece soon as the current one must be starting to buckle under the weight of the various awards she’s picked up lately. At the Athletics NI awards evening last night a special award was made to Ciara by Ed Warner, Chairman of UK Athletics and John Glover, President of Athletics NI, in recognition of her Northern Ireland senior 1500m record of 4:09.51 set when winning silver at the World Junior championships in the summmer.
