Kelly 4th in Delhi 800m semi

Kelly McNeice ran an excellent 2:04.72 in this evening’s Commonwealth Games 800m semi-final. With three semi-finals, places in the final were going to be very difficult to achieve with just two automatic qualifiers from each race plus the two fastest losers.
Running in the first of the three races, Kelly placed an excellent 4th in a Season’s Best and the fastest by a N. Ireland athlete in 2010 but this unfortunately was not enough to secure the coveted spot in the final. While she will be disappointed at missing out on the finals of her events, Kelly has enjoyed a very good Games and along with club-mate Ciara Mageean has produced some of the best performances in the N.Ireland athletics squad at these championships. Between them they have provided huge inspiration to their many younger club-mates following their achievements from home.
