City of Lisburn’s Orla Smyth and Jonny McWhinney both tackled the Bangor 10k on Saturday morning. Conditions were cold at around 11 degrees C at the start with a North wind blowing. The course takes runners from the town hall via the esplanade at Ballyholme to Groomsport and back again.
From the very large field (well over 800 finishers) Jonny finished in 47:21 after going through half way in 23:20 to place him 39th in the M35 age-group. Orla finished in a fine 47:42 (23:24 at 5k) which placed her an excellent 11th place in the Female Open category.
