Rachel runs at Ravenhill

Fri 27 August 2010--admin

On the strength of her good track season, City of Lisburn’s Rachel Gibson was invited to run last night at the unusual venue of Ravenhill, headquarters of Ulster Rugby. The race was a half-time athletics feature in the Ulster v Leeds match in front of a crowd of some 7000, where Rachel was selected on a “Belfast South” team in the five team challenge.

Each team consisted of two men and one lady, with Rachel running well to finish as 2nd girl home in 5m 25 secs, completed over approximately 5 laps of the Ravenhll turf. This helped her team finish in 3rd place. This type of event was a common spectacle at occasions such as this in the past and hopefully more Lisburn athletes will get the chance to experience similar events in the future.
