Jonny McWhinney was the only City of Lisburn athlete who made the trip to Tullamore on Sunday for the Masters Championships of Ireland. In the M35 age-group a below-par Shot of 9.32m left him well out of contention in 8th. However, he was later 5th in the hammer and also 5th in the discus where he was within a metre of the medals with another 31m throw.
