At Antrim on Saturday and Sunday it was the NI and Ulster (younger) age-group champs, held in first class conditions. The large number of Lisburn athletes competing were chasing not just titles and medals but also places at the All-Ireland finals in Tullamore in July (top 4 in each event).

Day 1 – Highlights in the U14 girls included a double win for Jane Atkinson in the 75m hurdles (11.63s) and high jump with an outstanding 1.50m, both PBs. Caitlin Rose qualified in 4th position for the All-Ireland championships in both high jump (1.35m) and discus (16.29m), both PBs. On the track Katie Larmour (200m) and Zoe Carruthers (1500m) both had good runs for 5th.

In the U15 girls Erin Quinn got close to the 13 second barrier with a 13.08s PB for 4th in the 100m. In the 200m she was 3rd with Aoibhan McManus securing 4th and Jessica Robinson 5th. Aiobhan has been over 5 metres in the long jump recently but 4.96m was enough for gold this time. Anna McIlmoyle stepped up to the 80m hurdles and took silver in 12.96s and a bronze in the high jump while Rebecca Harvey took silver in the 1500m in 5m12s.

Well done to Dominic Martin with a solid run for 5th spot in the U15 boys 200m.

Day 2 –  The perfect conditions continued through to Sunday to allow a festival of PBs, medals and titles for the Lisburn squad.

In the U17 girls Kathryn Wallace was just 2cms shy of her PB when winning the hammer with 31.22m, but Libby Rose achieved two PBs en route to gold in the 100m hurdles in 15.37s and just missing out on the 5 metre barrier with 4.97m when winning the long jump. Caris Greenwood continued her recent good form with gold in the discus with a 27m throw. Francesca Brown took 3rd in the 800m in 2m 34s and also took bronze in the javelin in an unusual double-up.
In the U17 boys Adam Hill had a big PB of 1.72m to take 1st place in the high jump and was also 2nd in the 100m hurdles.
