KELLY QUALIFIES FOR WORLD INDOORS

Kelly McNeice was in sparkling form at the Irish Indoor Athletics Championships at the Odyssey arena at the weekend. Looking comfortable throughout the women’s 1500m Kelly overtook training partner Deirdre Byrne with 200m to go win running a new championship best performance of 4m14.63, taking seven seconds off her indoor personal best in the process. This was also a qualifying time for the World Indoor Championships in Doha, Qatar at the beginning of March.
Teenage teammate Ciara Mageean also had a brilliant run setting a New Irish Junior Record when winning the Senior Womens 800m in 2m07.82. Christine Long was sixth in 2m13.71. City of Lisburn AC age group athletes had a successful weekend in the underage competition also at the Odyssey.
