There were mixed fortunes at the Celtic Games on Saturday at Antrim for the five City of Lisburn athletes competing as part of the Ulster team.

Roseanna McGuckian’s 2nd place in the U16 200m was the best finishing position of the Lisburn gang after a good run of 26.63m into a fairly strong headwind. Kathyrn Wallace however was the only one of the five to set a PB after a super opening throw of 37.67m in her U18 hammer competition where she finished 4th.

U18 discus throwers Caris Greenwood and Tom Jess were both 3rd – Caris threw 33.88m while Tom had his second-best ever competition distance at 43.72m. In the U16 long jump a disappointed Aoibhin McManus was hampered by a couple of niggles which kept her more than half a metre down on her recent consistent performances and she finsihed 4th with 4.66m.

Overall Ulster finished 4th in the 4-way match.
