Scottish Junior Champs

A small squad of City of Lisburn athletes headed over to Scotstown stadium in Glasgow on Sunday for the Scottish Junior champs. All our athletes were competing in the U16 age-group which doubled as the Scottish trials for the forthcoming Celtic Games, with several of our squad having competed in the Young Athletes League final at Antrim the previous day.

Erin Quinn qualified for the 200m final with a time of 27.21s in her heat. In the final she was just outside that with 27.24s which left her in 4th. Jane Anderson had a quick time of 12.51s while winning her 80m hurdles heat with Anna McIlmoyle also qualifying for the final with a run of 12.87s. In the final Jane flew to a great silver in 12.36s with Anna 5th, just outside 13 seconds.

Anna made sure her trip was worthwhile however with a superb silver in the high jump in a competition where all three medallists cleared 1.60m.

Andrew Hutchinson was the only male representative but he brought home two medals – bronze for the 100m hurdles in 14.32s and an excellent high jump silver in a PB of 1.80m in a competition where once again all three medallists cleared the same height.

Congratulations to all the squad who travelled to Scotland on some excellent performances.
