City of Lisburn athletes won an amazing 35 medals last week-end at the Ulster Schools Athletic Championships at Antrim!

Wallace High pupil Rachel Gibson added to her growing tally of medals, with Gold in the Intermediate girls 800m, and followed that with a Silver in the 1500m. Training partners Jenny Moore Bronze in the 800m and Caroline Brown taking Bronze in the 3000m followed by Katie McHenry fifth and Rachel Ramsey in sixth. Caroline also finished fourth in the 800m. Ruth Gillespie defending last years title, once again won the Senior Girls 3000m in 10.41s, with Friends School pupil Rachel Pearson taking the Bronze, Ruth also acheived 2nd in the 1500m with a personal best time of 4m49.5s. Well done to Friends schoolgirl Chloe Bloomer winning the minor 100m in 13.20s.
Moira’s Debbie Porteous won the Intermediate Triple Jump with a leap of 10.11m and finished fourth in 80m Hurdles which was won by club mate Samantha Miskelly. .Sam joined Sophie Brow and Megan McKelvey to win the 4 x 100m Intermediate relay for Bloomfield Collegiate School. Sophie also took bronze in the Inter T/J with Megan gaining Silver followed by Lisburn City training partner Karyn Dumigan seventh in the 80m Junior Girls Hurdles. Multi-eventer Linzi Herron limited herself to two jumping events, winning Gold in the High Jump and Silver in the Long with a PB of 5.14m. Laura Loughlin also won Gold and Silver but in the Senior Long and Triple jumps achieving a PB in the Triple with 10.37m.
Recent new City of Lisburn recruit, Josh Williamson won very convincingly in the 400m Inter Boys with 52.62s and Instonian boys Fiyin Olayisade and Matthew Kilpatrick took Gold in the Inter 4 x 100m relay.
Strathearn’s Emily Mills won Silver in the 1500m in 5.05.3 while Laura McKeown won silver in the Inter Long Jump, Laura was also part of the Silver winning 4 x 100m Inter?s relay team. Rebekah Wilson took a bronze in the Hammer with a throw of 30.20m. Rebecca Hedley finished with Bronze in a very close Inter?s Discus competition, while Emma Brown finished fifth in the girls Junior Hammer. Alex Herron took her bronze in the Minor Girls High and was sixth in the Long Jump. Shannon Brush just failed to get a medal in the 200m finished fourth.
Mark Atkinson returning from injury helped his Senior 4 X 100 team mates Kyle Kirkpatrick, Gareth Montgomery and Gary Consiglia to a silver and was 4th in the Inter 100m, while Fiyin Olayisade won a bronze in the same race! Stuart Brown competing in both 1500m and 1500m Steeplechase finished in fourth place just outside the medals. Jonathon McIlfatrick competing in the Junior Boys 80m Hurdles finished seventh.
Coaches Bill Kelly, Eric Frizzell, Philip McIlfatrick Julie and Raymond Brown were very impressed with all of the City of Lisburn?s athletes achievements. Having worked long and hard over the winter their athletes excelled in all their events. We wish all the medal winners who qualified for next weeks All Ireland Schools Finals in Tullymore the best of luck.
