Team Trophy success / NI Relay champs

Sun 3 July 2011--admin

A great day’s athletics at Antrim yesterday at the Team Trophy and N. Ireland Relay championships finished in thrilling style for the City of Lisburn senior teams. The men won the N. Ireland senior 4x100m, dead-heating with North Down after the photo-finish judges were unable to separate them, while the women won not only the 4x100m relay title but also shared the N. Ireland Senior Team Trophy in the overall competition with City of Derry Spartans!

This was a great result for our ladies, who improved from 2nd place in 2010. It was a true team effort with every team member covering multiple events and supporting each other well throughout the day. For the record, the winning squad consisted of –

Hollie Johnston, Karyn Dumigan, Sarah McIlmoyle, Laura McBurney, Rachel Pearson, Orla Smyth, Amanda Mitchell, Kathryn Wallace, Caris Greenwood.

Well done ladies –  N. Ireland team champions!

Meanwhile the men improved from 6th in the team event last year to finish 4th this time behind defending champions North Down AC.
