“Rising Stars” 2011 – registration now open

Between now and 30 June athletes aged broadly 12-14 may register for the Athletics NI “Rising Stars” programme. Large numbers of Lisburn athletes partcipated in this popular programme this year, which is aimed at developing the most talented young athletes in the province by giving them access to expert coaching and advice across the range of athletics disciplines.
Young athletes benefit from eight specialised coaching sessions throughout the year plus the chance to compete in one indoor and one outdoor competition against other Rising Stars. The success of the Belfast based squad in these events this year was due in no small part to the contribution made by Lisburn athletes, with our own Katie Larmour and Kirsten Evans collecting the trophies on behalf of the local team.
Full details of the programme for next year including the 2011 entry standards and precise age eligibility are now available on the Athletics NI website. This is a great chance for young athletes to improve their athletics, have some fun and make lots of new friends who they will be competing with and against throughout their athletics careers.
