Bann 10k and Fun Run

A handful of City of Lisburn athletes made the trip to Banbridge for the Bann 10k and Fun Run on Wednesday evening. Conditions were cool and breezy but there was a warm welcome from the Banbridge AC hosts with a fine selection of tray-bakes in the clubhouse afterwards!
In the main race, Sean McGurnaghan took advantage of his knowledge of the course gained here last year to take a minute and a half off his 2010 time. HIs 45:33 placed him 60th of the 374 finishers and a good 8th M45. Jonny McWhinney made his debut here over the undulating course with a 47:06 run for 78th which also left him as 8th in his M40 age-group.
There was a similar sized field in the 4k Fun Run where Caitlin Lyness and Lucy Smyth both enjoyed great runs, finishing as 4th and 6th girl respectively.
