Heather McLarnon was well up the ladies’ field on Friday night at the Les Jones 10k race. She survived the notorious killer hill at around the 8k mark to finish 6th in the Female Open category in 42:48, although times are irrelevant due to the nature of the course. Michael Dobbs was 9th M35 and 40th overall in 39:04.
Meanwhile a couple more City of Lisburn athletes took the chance to try out the latest Parkrun course in Victoria Park early on Saturday morning, with both agreeing the pleasant fast course is conducive for fast times. Jonny McWhinney placed 12th overall in 21:31 to knock 30 seconds off his 2011 best. The race probably felt a bit short for marathon woman Orla Smyth but she managed to finish as first lady across the line in 22:58 (Times unoffical).
