Irish Uni’s T&F champs

Last weekend saw Rachel Gibson racing in the colours of Queens University in the Irish Universities’ athletics championships at Antrim. After qualifying as second fastest for the final from a fast heat in the 800m, Rachel had to settle for 6th in a final won in a swift 2:15.
Brendan Murphy, running for UU, ran a useful 54.62s in his 400m hurdles heat. A repeat performance would have secured bronze iin the final but he finished 6th there, just outside 56 seconds. Alister Woods, also running for UU, ran a PB in the 800m heats of 1:58.97, narrowly missing qualification for the final.
