London Mini-Marathon

All three of the City of Lisburn athletes running for the N. Ireland team in this morning’s London Mini-Marathon gave extremely good accounts of themselves. The girls had the fabulous experience of racing over the last 3 miles of the main marathon route, enjoying the spectacular finish just past Buckingham Palace in the Mall – exactly where all the elite athletes we watched on TV finish!
In the U13 race, Madison Bowyer finished as first N. Ireland athlete home in 18:59 for 31st place. This put her in the top half of the field – a very solid performance at national level. Zoe Carruthers was just behind her in 41st place with a time of 19:15, placing 2nd of the N.Ireland athletes.
At U15 level, Rebecca Harvey was second home of the N. Ireland squad in 18:58 which placed her 42nd overall. Congratulations to all three girls on their good runs.
