Orla tackles Larne Half

The Athletics NI 2011 half marathon series began with a big turn-out of well over 1200 finishers at Larne today where Lisburn’s Orla Smyth recorded a chip time of 1:44.27. With this run and also her 5k PB at the Parkrun recently her build-up to the Belfast Marathon on May Day is clearly well on track.
Orla recorded negative splits, finishing strongly with her 51:26 second half nearly 3 minutes quicker than her first. This saw her finish a highly respectable 19th place in the Female Open category
