The AVIVA All-Ireland 2011 Schools cross-country championships took place today at the National Aquatics Centre, Abbottstown, Dublin. The flat course provided great underfoot conditions and as a result fast running was the order of the day. The races featured several City of Lisburn athletes who had made it there through their regional and provincial qualifiers.

Zoe Carruthers had the best finishing position from the Lisburn squad, taking a superb 6th place in the Minor Girls 2500m race. This was a great performance at her first Irish Schools race and saw her finish just 7 seconds outside the medals.  Jonathan Whan should be pleased with his 16th place in the Junior Boys 3500m event while Rebecca Harvey ran well for 21st place in the Inter Girls race over the same distance.
