City of Lisburn AC results from the School Districts Cross Country races in Ormeau Park, Belfast and Delamont Park, Downpatrick.
In Ormeau Park on Tuesday 31st January, first off were two novices in the Junior girls Rebecca Diamond with a great run finishing 11th and training partner Caoimhe McGarrity on 44th, four Lisburn girls were competing in the Inters 2000m. First home was Rachel Gibson of Wallace HS in second place followed closely by Jenny Moore of Carrick Grammar in fourth place. Rachel Ramsey, BRA, finished 10th with Alison Robinson of Carrick Grammar in 15th position. All girls qualified for the final. The Senior girls 2000m was led from start to finish by Ruth Gillispie of Carrick Grammar with school friend Hannah Addley finishing in 9th position to take both girls to the final.
On Wednesday 1st February in Delamont Park, Downpatrick 12 City of Lisburn AC athletes were competing for places in the Ulster Schools final at Mullusk. In the Minor Girls? 1500m, Tabitha Darling and Shakara McCausland were part of the winning team from Strathern Girls? School finishing in 15th and 19th respectively. In the Junior Girls? 1500m, Strathern Girls were once again to the fore, winning the event with brilliant runs from Emily Mills in third place, Shannon Myles in fifth, Kalina Stitt in sixth and Sammy Weston in eighth, with reserves Zoe Magee nineteenth and Lauren Quee twenty second. .Katie Patterson of Bloomfield Collegiate, an athlete who specialises in Long Jump, produced the run of the day finishing in fourth place. The 2000m Inters sole representative, Caroline Brown of Bloomfield Collegiate indicated a return to form finishing third. In the Boys Inters 4500m Stuart Brown running for Campbell College had yet another great performance to complete the course in second place. Last but not least Ann Meaklin of Strathern, returning to the sport after a long layoff, finished in thirteenth place helping the school to second team place.
Coaches Eric Frizzell, Julie and Raymond Brown were very impressed with all the City of Lisburn AC athletes and wish them all the best for the Northern Ireland Schools? Finals at Mullusk on Wednesday 15th February.
