Rollercoaster 5k Race 29/01

Saturday saw the annual “Rollercoaster” Races promoted by Joe Quinn and his East Down AC team who always put on a great event. The programme featured age-group races of various lengths up to a Senior and Masters 5k around the undulating perimeter road surrounding the Downpatrick Racecourse. The 5k race was well supported again with almost 100 athletes running.
City of Lisburn AC were represented by mother and daughter team Alison and Rachel Gibson who both had good runs. Alison was 9th lady overall but a fine 2nd place in the F45 category in 23:56. Rachel was 3rd lady overall and took home the prize for first Junior female after a great run, squeezing under 20 minutes with 19:56, a good time on a challenging course.
